The Finnish Path in Grue

Finnevegen (The Finnish Road) is a well-trodden and marked trail. Along the route you will find, among other things, the ‘resting stone’. This is where those who walked along Finnevegen with heavy loads rested. 

Along the way there are also wonderful views of Frysjøen before you reach Brutjernet and Brutjernskoia, a beautiful place and well suited for a rest. 

Skasberget is Grue's second highest peak (581 metres above sea level). The summit itself is forested and flat, so the view from here is poor. If you move around a little on the summit, you will be able to get views in all directions.

Route length

Round trip approx. 12 km. The trail is blue-marked and signposted at road junctions etc. See map in the brochure: the red dotted line is ‘Finnevegen’.

Terrain

Nice hike in easy terrain. You can rest on the ‘resting stone’ along the route. This is where those who walked along Finneveien with heavy loads rested.

Car park

Start from the lake Skasenden: Finnevegen is signposted from County Road 201, approx. 500 metres from Kirkenær in Skasenden. There is no car park right next to the trail. We recommend parking at the car park between the county road and Finnskogen Villmarksenter. Walk along the county road for a few hundred metres before the trail goes up. 
You can also walk the trail from Vollstadvika. Well-marked trail.

Start from Svullrya: Park at Finnetunet and walk west on the footpath for about 200 metres, turn right (Storbergsveien). Follow this road for about 800 metres until Finnevegen is signposted to the left.
You can also park at ‘Tomta’ (by Rotna bridge) - walk approx. 800 m along Storbergsveien until Finnevegen is signposted to the left.
