Our region boasts some of the best fishing opportunities in inland Norway. Here you will find a multitude of big lakes, great rivers and small still ponds. Trout, pike and perch are the most common species.
Anglers can choose from a variety of boats for hire, with or without engines, including canoes, kayaks and pedalos. Or you can stroll along the shores and river banks and cast with worm, hook or fly tackle. In the big lakes you can jig for large trout and pike.
Predator fishing for predator species such as pike and perch takes place mostly in large and small lakes. Fishing methods include wobbler, jerk baits, shads or other soft plastics, natural bait or flies. Trolling is the best method for catching large trout. Flyfishing for grayling and trout is a wonderfully relaxing pastime.
And in the winter?
During the winter most all lakes are frozen with solid ice, enough to carry big lorrys. With your ice drill (or one you rent at the Tourist Office) you can drill holes and enjoy ice fishing. Perch is the main catch in winter, but you can also try your luck for trout, char, whitefish and burbot.
