About
The Women's Museum opened in 1995 in Kongsvinger in the childhood home of writer Dagny Juel. The museum is still Norway's only women's museum and houses a number of different exhibitions that tell the story of women.
Experience, among other things, ‘The Icebreaker - a tribute to Monica Kristensen’. As leader of the 90 degrees South expedition in 1986, Monica Kristensen became world famous. She was the first woman in the world to lead a polar expedition. The exhibition focuses on three aspects of Kristensen's career as a scientist, expedition leader and author.
A new addition to the museum is the exhibition ‘In all publicity’ about the "Bunad guerrillas". You will also find fascinating exhibitions on topics such as abortion, the writer Dagny Juel and ‘Play for life’.
