About
Gjøvik Farm - Bohemian and continental
Why was a town established in Gjøvik?
Glass factory founder Caspar Kauffeldt, who built the beautiful Gjøvik Farm in 1810, is partially responsible. Today you can visit the Mjøen family’s original and lavish home from the last half of the 19th century. Here the town’s history is explored, from glass and industry to aquavit and potatoes, centered around the notable people who have lived in Gjøvik Gård.
Gjøvik Gård lies in a beautiful park, in the town center, a stone’s throw away from hotels and Skibladner’s dock. Also located here is Kafé Drengestua, a cozy café with a selection of cakes and simple lunches on offer. We also recommend visiting our big exhibition of old Gjøvikglass at Holmen Brænderi just across the river.
