About
Authentic and local craftsmanship at Mesterstuen at Kapp
Mesterstuen is an outlet unlike any other – a world of figurines and candleholders, nativity sets and bridal processions, animals and people, angels and birds, gnomes and trolls – all carved in wood at Toten.
Visitors to Mesterstuen are met by a vast selection of local woodcarvings made by the Engelsen family. The small family business was founded by Henning Engelsen (1918–2005) in 1947, and shortly after traditional Norwegian motifs carved in wood at Tømmerholshøgda had reached every corner of the world. Later generations have built on Engelsen’s diverse work, and new products are frequently added.
Among our over two hundred products are the popular nativity scene, candleholders for every season, Lucia figurines and angels, as well as a large selection of Henning Engelsen’s traditional wooden figures. The products are still carved and painted by hand in the workshop at Tømmerholshøgda at Toten.
Welcome to an enjoyable shopping experience at our outlet in Mesterstuen, a croft dating back to 1720.
